Audience: Affirmology product team. Purpose: a planning map of astrology product use cases beyond the basic natal-chart interpretation, with chart math, competitor pricing, customer problem, and how our stack (Swiss Ephemeris + Claude prose + ElevenLabs voice + interpretive corpus) maps to each.
A note on stack assumptions throughout: Swiss Ephemeris gives us every positional calculation we need (planets, points, houses, derived charts, transits, returns, progressions). Claude turns symbol clusters into prose. ElevenLabs turns prose into voice. The corpus gives us a voice and tradition to draw from. Every use case below reduces to: compute the right chart math, slot the symbol cluster into a prompt, render to audio or PDF.
What it is. Comparing two natal charts to describe how two people interact: where there is natural ease, where there is friction, what the relationship is likely to teach each person.
Existing products. - The Pattern (thepattern.com): freemium iOS/Android, premium "Go Deeper+" at roughly $9/month. The Bonds tab compares two charts in plain-language psychological terms, no astro jargon. Their Connect dating feature uses the same engine as a matching algorithm. - Co-Star (costarastrology.com): free with paid add-ons. Reduces synastry to a single compatibility percentage shown on each user's profile. Widely criticized in the astro community for hiding the math behind a number. - Astro.com: free synastry chart calculator with interpretive text, the reference free option. - AstroMatrix and Astro-Seek: free synastry calculators with PDF reports. - Sanctuary, CHANI, Bodhi: all offer some form of compatibility insight as part of broader subscriptions.
Chart math. Three distinct techniques, each answering a slightly different question. 1. Cross-aspects. For every planet in chart A, compute the angular distance to every planet in chart B. Flag conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, oppositions within an orb (typically 6 to 8 degrees for personal planets, tighter for the outers). Venus-Mars, Sun-Moon, Moon-Moon, and Saturn-Venus are load-bearing. 2. House overlays. Drop each of person B's planets into the house wheel of person A. Person B's Venus in person A's 4th house has a different feel than the same Venus in the 10th. Run both directions. 3. Composite chart (midpoint method). Build a new chart whose Sun is the midpoint of Sun A and Sun B, whose Moon is the midpoint of Moon A and Moon B, and so on for every planet and angle. Interpret the composite chart as if it were the birth chart of the relationship itself. 4. Davison relationship chart. Use the midpoint in time between the two birth moments and the geographic midpoint between the two birth places, then cast a real chart for that point. Slightly different feel from the composite, treated by many astrologers as the more "alive" of the two.
Customer problem. Why does it feel hard with this person. Are we meant to be. What is the work of this relationship.
Affirmology implementation note. Swiss Ephemeris does composite and Davison out of the box. The prose pipeline already knows how to take a sign+house+planet cluster and produce affirming voice. The new asset is a two-chart input flow and a synastry symbol table (which aspects to flag, what the typical reading frame is). Start with composite-only as v1 because it produces a single chart and reuses the existing natal-report pipeline verbatim. Add cross-aspects in v2.
What it is. The same two-chart math as synastry, reframed for professional collaboration. The interpretive frame changes from "do we belong together" to "how do we work together, who handles what, where will we trip each other up."
Existing products. - Karen Curry Parker's Quantum Human Design business consultations. She has coached over 10,000 clients using HD plus quantum alignment, with a strong business-partnership and team focus. Not strictly astrology, but the closest mainstream analog of "use your chart at work." - Crystal B Astrology offers explicit team-building consultations for groups and corporates. - Rebecca Gordon Astrology has a Corporate & Team Building practice line. - The Pattern's compatibility engine is the closest mass-market product but is positioned for romance, not work. - There is no dominant "business synastry" app. This is a gap.
Chart math. Same composite + cross-aspect math as #1, with different emphasis. The load-bearing pairs shift: - Sun-Sun and Mercury-Mercury (how do we communicate) - Mars-Mars and Mars-Saturn (how do we execute, who pushes and who paces) - Saturn cross-aspects (where the structural authority sits) - Jupiter cross-aspects (where the optimism and risk-appetite mismatch lives) - 10th-house and 6th-house overlays (work and reputation)
Customer problem. Should I take this co-founder. Why does my COO keep frustrating me. What is this team actually good at.
Affirmology implementation note. Identical pipeline to #1 with a different prompt persona and a different "what to look for" matrix. The audio is shorter and more pragmatic, not a romantic poem. Consider a one-page PDF deliverable in the style of an executive brief, since the audience reads at work. Price point can be higher than romantic synastry because it is a B2B-adjacent decision.
What it is. Synastry between parent and child, but interpreted through an evolutionary or karmic lens: what did these two souls come together to learn, what is the karmic charge of the bond, what early-life script is the parent likely projecting onto the child.
Existing products. Almost no app-level product here. The space is owned by individual practitioners. - Steven Forrest's evolutionary astrology school teaches parent-child synastry explicitly. His book Yesterday's Sky frames the nodes of the Moon as the doorway to past-life material. - Mark Jones (Pluto School, markjonesastrology.com) runs deep one-on-one consultations using Pluto and the nodal axis to map karmic inheritance. - Karen Curry Parker offers parent-child Quantum HD readings. - Practitioner consults run $200 to $600 per session.
Chart math. - Compare the South Node of the child to any planet in the parent's chart and vice versa. Conjunctions are flagged as karmic carry-over. - Saturn cross-aspects, especially Saturn from parent to child's Sun, Moon or nodal axis, indicate authority patterns and "locked-in" lessons. - Pluto cross-aspects indicate the deep generational power dynamics. - Vertex contacts (the "fated encounter" point) flagged. - The child's natal Moon house tells the parent how the child needs to be emotionally held; cross-reference with the parent's Moon and the parent's 4th house. - Generational planets (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) by sign show what era-themes the parent is handing forward.
Customer problem. Why is my child so different from me. What is the hidden lesson in this relationship. Am I unconsciously repeating my parent's pattern with my child.
Affirmology implementation note. This is a high-emotion, high-trust use case. The audio voice has to be tender. The prompt should explicitly forbid "blame" framing and steer toward compassion. This is a strong candidate for a longer-form deliverable (PDF + audio) at a premium price point because the felt value is enormous and the competitive set is human practitioners at $400.
What it is. A weekly or monthly forecast that is not the generic "Sun sign horoscope" but is actually computed against the user's natal chart. Today Jupiter is at 14 Cancer, your natal Sun is at 12 Cancer, so Jupiter is conjunct your Sun this week.
Existing products. - CHANI (chani.com): $11.99/month or $107.99/year. The gold standard for personalized transit content. Daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly readings tied to the user's chart, plus ritual, journal, and meditation tie-ins. - Sanctuary (sanctuaryworld.co): free app, paid live readings. Daily horoscopes "personalized to your birth chart" plus a tarot card or crystal of the day. - Co-Star: famously personalized daily push notifications. Free with paid features. - The Pattern: the Timing tab is built around this exact use case. - Astrology Hub: subscription content tied to current transits but less personalized.
Chart math. - For each day or week, take ephemeris positions of the transiting planets. - Compute aspects from each transiting planet to every natal planet and angle. Standard aspect set (conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition) plus often the quincunx. - Flag aspects within orb. Outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) carry the headline narrative for the period because they move slowly. Personal-planet transits (Mars, Venus, Mercury) carry the day-to-day texture. - Layer in the Moon transit by house and sign for emotional weather. - Optional: profections (a traditional technique that activates one house per year of life, repeating every 12).
Customer problem. Generic horoscopes feel dumb. I want to know what is happening to me specifically. When should I push and when should I rest.
Affirmology implementation note. This is the easiest recurring-revenue product to build. We already have the natal pipeline. We need (a) a transit engine that runs nightly and flags the active aspects per user, (b) a Claude prompt that takes "natal Sun in Cancer + transiting Jupiter conjunct natal Sun within 2 degrees, peak this week" and writes warm, specific copy, and (c) a delivery channel. Audio of a 60-second "this week" is a strong differentiator nobody else does at quality. ElevenLabs is the moat here.
What it is. A world map showing where each of your planets falls on a local angle. Standing on a planet line, that planet's energy is dialed up in your life. People use it for travel, relocation, and "where should I go to find what I am looking for."
Existing products. - Astro.com: free astrocartography, the original digital implementation. - Astrocartography.app: premium subscription with relocation reports. - Astrocarto.org: free with AI-written interpretations of each line and crossing. - Astro-Seek: free. - Wayne Booher and other practitioners offer location-specific consults at $200-$500. - Honeys Astro and similar boutiques sell PDF relocation reports for $30-$80.
Chart math. - For each of the 10 planets, compute the four lines on which that planet is conjunct one of the four angles (Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven, IC). That gives 40 lines. - MC and IC lines are pure meridians (vertical on the map). Ascendant and Descendant lines curve. - The technique reduces to: given birth time and place, for every longitude on Earth, what is the local sidereal time, and which planet would be on the angle there. - Crossings (parans) are the points where two planet lines intersect. These are read as power spots that combine both energies.
Customer problem. Where should I move. Why does this city feel so heavy. Where might I find love, success, healing.
Affirmology implementation note. Swiss Ephemeris computes the angle math directly. The visual is the product: an interactive map is what users expect. For v1, generate a static map image plus a written or audio report for the user's three to five most prominent lines, framed as "if you ever go to X, here is what gets activated." Mid-term, a real interactive map with click-to-hear-audio per line is highly distinctive.
What it is. A new chart cast for the precise moment the Sun (annual) or Moon (monthly) returns to its natal degree. Read as the chart of the year ahead or month ahead, in addition to the natal chart.
Existing products. - Steven Forrest's Solar Return interpretive reports (forrestastrology.com) are the gold standard for the evolutionary lens. - Cafe Astrology and AstroMatrix sell solar return PDF reports for $5 to $25. - Big Sky Astrology bundles Forrest-text reports. - Lunar return is less productized; it appears as a feature inside CHANI and a few practitioner offerings, plus free calculators at AstroMatrix and Astro-Seek.
Chart math. - Solar return: find the exact moment in the user's birthday year when the transiting Sun returns to the natal Sun's longitude. Cast a full chart for that moment. - Lunar return: find the moment each month when the transiting Moon returns to the natal Moon's longitude. Cast a chart. Roughly every 27.3 days, 13 charts per year. - Location matters. Forrest recommends casting at the birth location by default. Some astrologers relocate to the current city. We should default to current city for accessibility and offer birth-location as an advanced toggle. - Read the return Ascendant, the return Moon's house, and aspects from return planets to natal planets.
Customer problem. What is this year really about. What is the theme of the month ahead. Should I make a big move now or wait.
Affirmology implementation note. Solar return is a natural annual product. We can email or notify the user three days before their birthday with a "your year ahead" audio. Lunar return is a natural monthly recurring product. Both reuse the natal pipeline because the return chart is just another chart. The only new code is the "find the return moment" event-finder, which Swiss Ephemeris supports.
What it is. A symbolic technique where each day after birth corresponds to one year of life. So your progressed chart at age 35 is the actual sky 35 days after you were born. Used to describe internal evolution rather than external events.
Existing products. - AstroTwins (astrostyle.com), Cafe Astrology, Astro.com, and Astro-Seek all offer free progressed chart calculators. - Kathryn Hocking and Heather (Astrology with Heather) sell progressed chart consultations and courses, typically $150-$300. - No mass-market app leads with progressions.
Chart math. - Day-for-a-year. Take birth datetime, add (current_age_in_years) days, cast a chart for that moment. That is the secondary progressed chart. - The progressed Moon is the headline indicator. It moves roughly one degree per month, so it spends about 2.5 years in each sign and 27 to 29 years per full cycle. The current sign and house of the progressed Moon describes the user's emotional theme right now. - Progressed Sun changes sign roughly every 30 years and marks a major chapter shift. - Solar arc directions (a related technique) move every planet by the same arc as the progressed Sun, useful as a complement.
Customer problem. Why does my life feel like it has chapters. What chapter am I in now. When does the next one start.
Affirmology implementation note. Strong product fit because the progressed Moon naturally segments life into 2.5-year arcs. We can sell a "what season of yourself are you in" report that updates every time the progressed Moon changes sign. Notification model: alert the user a month before their progressed Moon changes sign and offer a transition audio. This is sticky and distinctive.
What it is. Career guidance from the chart, focused on the Midheaven, the 10th house, and what the chart calls the "vocational trinity" of the 2nd, 6th, and 10th houses (value, skill, public offer).
Existing products. - Pam Gregory's The Next Step consultation (thenextstep.uk.com): six hours of chart prep, deep career and life-direction focus, premium pricing for a one-on-one. - Career.astro.com and Astro.com's career report. - Greg Bogart's Career Counseling and Vocational Astrology, the academic reference. - AstrologyReadings.online and Aspectados sell vocation chart PDFs for under $30. - Crystal B Astrology offers corporate vocational workshops.
Chart math. - Midheaven sign and degree: the public-facing archetype the person is being called toward. - Ruler of the Midheaven sign: locate that planet by sign, house, aspects. This is the "where the vocation actually lives" indicator. - Planets in the 10th house: each adds a specific drive or talent. - 2nd house (resources and innate value), 6th house (skill, daily work, service), and 10th house (public offer, legacy). Walk the three in sequence. - Cross-check with Saturn (the long-game career planet) and Jupiter (where natural growth and luck shows up). - Optional: the Vertex in the career angle, the North Node by house.
Customer problem. What am I actually here to do. Why does this job feel wrong even though it pays well. Should I make the leap.
Affirmology implementation note. Career is a high-willingness-to-pay use case. People will pay $50 for clarity on a $100K decision. This deliverable wants to be longer and more structured than the natal report: a PDF with sections (your calling, your natural skill, how to make the offer, when to make the move) plus a 4 to 6 minute audio. The transit and progression layers (#4, #7) are natural cross-sells because they answer the "when" question.
What it is. Medical astrology maps signs and planets onto body systems. Used to flag possible vulnerabilities, support routines, and timing of body-related interventions. Important: this is wellness framing, never a substitute for medical care.
Existing products. - The Mountain Astrologer magazine runs regular columns on medical astrology. - Refinery29, AstrologyAnswers, and Astrostyle have popular consumer-level articles. - Cornelius (Christopher) Beck and similar practitioners offer paid consults. - No dominant consumer app. The space is mostly editorial content and individual practitioner consults.
Chart math. - Each sign rules a body region: Aries head and adrenals, Taurus throat, Gemini lungs and arms, Cancer stomach and breasts, Leo heart and spine, Virgo digestion, Libra kidneys and skin, Scorpio reproductive system, Sagittarius hips and liver, Capricorn bones and joints, Aquarius circulation and ankles, Pisces feet and lymphatic. - Each planet rules a system: Sun vitality, Moon fluids and stomach, Mercury nervous system, Venus kidneys and skin, Mars muscles and blood, Jupiter liver, Saturn bones and structure. - The 6th house is the daily-health house. Planets there and the ruler of the 6th get extra weight. - Saturn placements, hard Mars aspects, and 6th-house tenants are the typical "watch this area" flags. - Transiting Saturn and Mars over the 6th house ruler timing of health events.
Customer problem. What does my body need from me. Where am I structurally vulnerable. Why does this part of me keep flaring up.
Affirmology implementation note. This is the most legally-sensitive use case. Every deliverable needs a clear disclaimer and must avoid diagnostic language. Frame it as "what your chart suggests this body wants to be cared for, in addition to your doctor's advice." The audio frame is gentle, body-loving, never clinical. Strong fit with a "body affirmation" audio per body region keyed to the user's vulnerabilities.
What it is. Picking the best moment to start something. The opposite question from a natal chart: instead of reading the birth moment of a person, we choose the birth moment of an action.
Existing products. - Augurine, AstrologyReadings.online: free electional calculators. - Many traditional astrologers (Hiroki Niizato, Chris Brennan school) offer election consults at $150-$500. - Astrology Hub teaches electional courses. - No mass-market app owns this category. Big gap. - We have already built one for Jeff's LLC, so we know the pipeline.
Chart math. - Define the action and its candidate date window. - For each candidate moment, cast a chart and score it against a rubric: - Ascendant sign and ruler in good condition. - Moon waxing, not void of course, in a supportive sign, applying to a benefic aspect. - Significant ruler of the action (Venus for marriage, Mercury and Jupiter for business launches, Saturn for structural commitments, Mars for surgery and competitive launches) in good shape. - No retrograde of the principal significator. - Benefic angularity (Venus or Jupiter near the Ascendant or MC). - Avoid malefic angularity (Mars or Saturn near the angles). - For surgery: waning Moon, Mars not retrograde, Moon not in the sign of the body part being operated on. - Rank candidates, return top three with rationale.
Customer problem. When is the right time to act. I am about to commit to something big and want every advantage.
Use cases: marriages, business launches and LLC filings, big purchases (house, car), starting a treatment or surgery, signing a contract, hitting publish, moving day, asking a hard question.
Affirmology implementation note. We have the engine. The product wraps are (a) a self-serve "pick a date" tool with a few preset action types, and (b) an "ask us to pick" concierge tier. Audio plays a smaller role here; this is mostly a precise chart-math product with a tight written rationale. Could be a strong paid-only feature inside the broader subscription.
What it is. Several techniques try to read what the soul brought in from before this life. Used by evolutionary astrologers to frame current patterns as continuations of older work.
Existing products. Almost all individual-practitioner. No mass-market app owns this. - Jeffrey Wolf Green's School of Evolutionary Astrology: the foundational teacher. Reads Pluto and the South Node as past-life indicators. - Steven Forrest's Yesterday's Sky: the most accessible book on the topic. Uses the lunar nodes as the karmic doorway. - Mark Jones (Pluto School UK): therapeutic past-life consultations. - Practitioner consults run $200-$700.
Chart math. - South Node sign, house, and aspects: read as the unfinished business carried over. - Ruler of the South Node sign by current sign and house: read as how the past-life pattern is showing up now. - Pluto sign, house, and aspects: read as the deep soul intention. - Saturn aspects to the South Node: the karmic "have to face it" signature. - Pre-natal lunar eclipse and pre-natal solar eclipse: find the most recent solar and lunar eclipse before birth, plot those degrees on the natal chart. These points are read as karmic markers, particularly powerful when conjunct natal planets. - Optional: progressing the chart backwards to the moment of conception (around 273 days before birth) is a traditional but heterodox technique some practitioners use.
Customer problem. Why do I keep meeting this pattern. What is the deeper story I am inside. Help me make sense of grief or loss that feels older than this life.
Affirmology implementation note. Tonally this is the most poetic use case in the whole catalog. Voice has to be slow, reverent, never sensational. Strong fit with the affirmation pipeline because the natural output is "and so the work of this life is to..." This is also where Affirmology can differentiate from Co-Star (cold metrics) and CHANI (modern witchy) by sitting in something more contemplative.
What it is. Comparing more than two charts at once. Used for families, teams, friend groups, communities.
Existing products. - Astro.com's Multipersonal Composite (Dieter Koch + Alois Treindl) supports up to 20 charts. - Christof Niederwieser's Group Horoscope: a published methodology, computed by specialist software like AstroApp. - Ronald Davison's Multi-Davison Relationship Chart. - Crystal B Astrology and Rebecca Gordon Astrology run team-building consults, $1,500+ for a session. - No mass-market consumer product. Gap.
Chart math. - Multi-composite: extend the two-person midpoint technique to N people. The composite Sun is the midpoint of all N Suns, and so on. - Multi-Davison: average the birth times (in UT) and birth coordinates, cast a real chart for that average. - Common-affinity scan: look across N charts for shared placements (same sign emphasis, same dominant element, repeated aspects). The group "theme" emerges from what every member is carrying. - Role mapping: who is the chart-wide Sun, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter of the group. Each person tends to embody one archetype in the system.
Customer problem. Why does our team keep stalling. What is the gift of our friend group. What is the inherited theme my family is working with.
Affirmology implementation note. Strong B2B angle. Imagine "Affirmology for Founders" or "Affirmology for Couples Therapists." A team report could be priced at $500-$2000 because the buyer is a company. The audio version could be played at a team offsite. Implementation is direct: extend the synastry pipeline to N inputs, and replace the love frame with whatever role frame fits (team, family, friend group).
What it is. A conversational interface where the user asks a specific question and the system reads their chart plus current transits to answer.
Existing products. - Co-Star: the original push-notification chart bot, free. - Sanctuary: live human readings on demand at roughly $4 to $7 per minute, plus a free daily reading. - Om.AI and StaarVani (Vani): AI-driven Vedic chart chatbots that hold conversational context across messages. - ChatGPT-based custom GPTs (Astrologer.bot, theastro.chat): free and freemium, generic. - The Astro AI Chat, Astroo AI, Bodhi: dedicated chatbot apps.
Chart math. Same as natal + transits. The novelty is in the input format and the LLM prompt that combines question intent, chart symbol cluster, and current transits into a tight answer.
Customer problem. I have a specific decision in front of me right now and I do not want to read a 20-page report. Just tell me.
Affirmology implementation note. Our advantage is voice. Nobody is doing "ask your chart a question, get back a 45-second ElevenLabs answer in our signature voice." Implementation is straightforward: (a) build a chart-RAG prompt that injects the natal symbol cluster and the active transits, (b) constrain Claude to a tight answer template (acknowledge, name the chart factor, give the guidance, name the next 30-day window), (c) synthesize. Could be a chat layer over every other product in this catalog.
What it is. Based on the user's chart plus current transits, the system recommends which of our other assets (audios, reports, practices) to focus on this month. The system gets smarter at curating the more content we have.
Existing products. - CHANI's monthly workshops are loosely transit-curated but not personalized to the individual. - Soulloop: yoga, meditation, and journaling content curated against current transits. - The Pattern's Collections tab surfaces audio episodes matching the user's current cycle. - No mass-market product does this well yet for a content library. Real gap.
Chart math. - Tag every piece of Affirmology content with the astrology factors it speaks to (e.g., "Saturn transits," "12th house," "progressed Moon in Pisces," "vocational uncertainty," "grief"). - For each user, compute the live state of their chart this month: active transits, current progressed Moon position, active solar arc, current profected house, lunar return chart of the current cycle. - Match: surface the three to five content items whose tags best match the live state. - Layer collaborative signals on top: what did users with similar chart states engage with and rate highly.
Customer problem. I have a library of practices. I do not know what I need right now. Tell me what to listen to today.
Affirmology implementation note. This is the long-term moat. Every other product in this catalog generates content. This use case turns the catalog into a stateful recommendation engine that knows the user better the longer they stay. Build the tagging schema early so content created for any other product feeds this engine for free. Strong recurring-revenue argument because the value compounds with library size.
For Affirmology specifically, given the existing stack (Swiss Ephemeris + Claude + ElevenLabs + interpretive corpus) and what is already in production (natal report, electional report for Jeff's LLC), a plausible build sequence:
Word count: approximately 3,150.
