Affirmology Session Notes: Norm + Matt Investor Meeting Debrief (Jeff + Sol)

The meeting in one paragraph

Jeff and Sol met Norm (primary decision maker) and his son Matt in Fort Lauderdale after a rushed morning (2am operating-agreement session, then bank account opening ran long). Norm is highly engaged, talks as if he is investing, offered his Coherence property free for retreats and facilitator gatherings, and offered his vibro-acoustic sound bed for the demo experience. Matt is less personally into astrology but engaged on business/tech and will independently research astrology apps (a buying signal). No check yet; the window is tight (Norm gone Wednesday, Jeff's couples retreat starts Monday evening), so follow-up will be Zoom.

The good

The bad and the ugly (Jeff's own assessment)

Matt's key business question and the answer to send

Matt thinks the app needs a liquidating offer (paid front-end suite to cover CAC). Jeff's research points instead to how astrology apps actually grow: word of mouth, shareable content, free entry, emotional moment, subscription upsell in-app, monetizing around month two. Plan: present both as routes worth A/B testing, honoring Matt's experience, plus the acquisition/retention/LTV three-part answer to "how do you get to 100 then 1,000 users." Sol flagged a 45-min virality video (watch at 2x; virality is step 4 or 5, prove the funnel first) to fold into the research packet.

Immediate follow-ups Jeff named for himself

  1. Send Norm and Matt a gratitude/thank-you message ASAP (invite email questions, tease Matt's app/marketing experience as an asset)
  2. Send the growth-model research packet to Matt (routes framing)
  3. Revise use of funds: pull the founder-pay line, reprioritize tech/scalability spend
  4. Build the context-aware second-audio feature
  5. Look into YC short-form submission + Black Founder program
  6. Get the operating agreement reviewed through an investor lens (Thorn said it has holes)
